SFP+ adapter detected as "Unknown", not reporting link speed - Netgate 6100

I was monkeying around with Nexus a bit today and noticed it listed my WAN interface linked at 1Gbps, but I know it was supposed to be 10G. At first I thought it was a bug but then I logged into the web interface and saw this

The SFP+ module I'm using is an FS.com low-power SFP-10G-T-30-RP (Intel hint)

Any chance this module could be better supported? It runs great (no errors reported by sysctl dev.ix.0.mac_stats, and speeds are perfect). Do I need to ask this to the FreeBSD maintainers instead?

@luckman212 Funny, but yesterday I just switched WAN3/ix0 to be my 10G LAN link and I attached UBIQUITI UC-DAC-SFP+ DAC SFP+ MODULE 10G 0.5M DIRECT ATTACH COPPER CABLE to Ubiquiti USW-PRO-8-PoE, port 9.

6100 was displaying „Unknown speed”, but link worked. I rebooted router after some changes and now I correctly see link speed. Will try to paste screen here later.

I know it is stupid question - did you reboot your router? Any improvement in displaying link speed?

@sandie Oh yes I have rebooted many times since installing this module. Just to be sure I rebooted just now, still says Unknown.

That's hitting the C3K limitation with the on SoC NICs. It can't read the link info from the RJ-45 module. That's also the reason they are not officially supported but, as you found, some can work if they don't require any configuring.
