DynDNS works, No-IP not so much

I set up my pfSense box to use DynDNS and it always updates trouble free. I set up No-IP for a buddy on his box and I always get emails saying that it's about to expire, then I log on and manually update until No-IP sends another email about expiration. I configured the username and so on the same on both. I can't figure out why my DynDNS never needs attention but No-IP never works.

@Shack If this is the free No-IP, IIRC it requires a monthly login to keep it active. The update of the IP isn’t required.

@SteveITS are we talking web browser login on the No-IP site? I'm hoping that the router will log in and make updates in the event that the IP changes. DynDNS does that without a hiccup. If it takes a manual update of the IP or logging into the router to do something manually to keep it alive, it kind of defeats the purpose. If my buddy's WAN IP changes, I can't use the domain name to reach it.

The short story : the No-IP DynDNS is not the service you want. It's stuill listed as the prix / performance ratio is probably close to zero.
