Pacakge manager has no package available
-
As the title say, my package manager does not show any pacakge available. It used to work (many years ago) as I still have 2 package installed.
I read a couple of old threads on the subject that talks about certificate problems, I think it's not what I have.
In my case, the web UI does nothing when I hit the "Search" button. Looking at my browser debugger, I see no HTTP request being sent. It's just a dead button.I really don't know where to start to debug this.
Here's my system :
- Netgate SG-3100
- 2.4.3-RELEASE-p1 (arm)
- built on Thu May 10 15:59:52 CDT 2018
- FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-p10
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you! -
@pylessard said in Pacakge manager has no package available:
2.4.3-RELEASE-p1 (arm)
That is quite old! To see packages you really need to be on a current version.

@johnpoz Thanks. Apologies for the dumb question, but my system says : "The system is on the latest version.".
Do I need to do try updating manually something? I assume that if I do so, I am on my own since i'm on 2018 hardware? -
@pylessard try https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/upgrades.html#upgrade-not-offered-library-errors but if you’re that many years old it’d be faster to reinstall. Otherwise you will need to perform several upgrades to get current.
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/sg-3100/reinstall-pfsense.html
Note the 3100 is past EOL so package support is slowly dwindling but they have still been releasing pfSense updates for it.

@pylessard I am pretty sure the latest version 25.11 still supports the 3100 that is arm based. Since it lists a led fix for the 3100 ;)
You could always download the new installer, in the store - its free.
But you might just need to set the version to see the update? Under system update, do you see where you can set the branch.. I am not exactly sure what all might of changed since that version - Its what like 8 years old..
You could always open a tac case..
https://www.netgate.com/tac-support-request
That is an appliance and they will always help you get pfsense updated or running, even if you do not have a full support contract, etc.
edit: But yeah Steve is correct - I do believe they are dropping support for some packages, because its arm - but not sure if they have specifically dropped any yet.. But yeah for sure it is EOL and at best will be less support going forward.

@johnpoz My update page is stuck on 21.02, there's no option for me to go further than that.
I don't mind reinstalling. I will try the procedure you kindly gave me and revert if I encounter an issue.Below, a screenshot of my UI
Thanks

@pylessard You need to upgrade through several required intermediate versions.
-
@pylessard yeah its quite possible, as Steve says you might have to do it a few times to get current - or you could just download the installer and jump to current..

Hi all.
I successfully upgraded to 25.11 using the procedure provided by SteveITS. It worked flawlessly (Kudo to the Netgate team).
I've been able to reimport my configuration (which was not simple). It all worked, except for the default WAN gateway that was wrong. took me 10 minute to find it. I am up and running and my package manager now has content.thank you!

@pylessard great to hear, now don't wait 8 years to update again ;) 26.03 will be the next update. Here in the next few months.. Knock on wood actually in March ;) heheh
That is if 3100 is still supported.. At some point it will drop off support - since it is arm based and all.
Curious how your wan gateway was wrong in your current backup?
