pfSense Plus 26.03, The firewall has encountered an error
-
Hello,
I upgraded my Netgate 6100 to pfSense Plus 26.03. The upgrade appeared to complete successfully, but after logging into the GUI I immediately got:
"The firewall has encountered an error
Debugging output can be collected to share with Netgate pfSense Plus developers or others providing support or assistance."From the crash report I can see multiple PHP errors like:
Module compiled with module API=20250925
PHP compiled with module API=20240924So it looks like PHP and its modules are mismatched.
Has anyone seen this after upgrading to 26.03?
Is this a known issue or repo/package inconsistency?Any recommended recovery steps?
Thanks.

@LoGman My 6100 did the exact same thing. But apparantly it’s not a problem according to @stephenw10. It’s expected errors that we were not suppose to see, but apparantly did because of a bug in some ceritficate handling.
I have not noticed any issues with my 6100 after the upgrade, so he may be right :-) -
Yes those php warnings about the module mismatch are expected during upgrade and are normally removed so the user doesn't see them.
Here that doesn't happen because of the actual error in certs.inc. However that too is usually solved by reinstalling Wireguard which has probably already happened during the upgrade.
TL;DR: If you remove it and it doesn't reappear after rebooting you should be fine.
