      Hello,
I have been running SG-4860s for some time now and have had replacements under and out of warranty. I currently have one in production and a fully functional spare that I try to keep current. But, I know the writing is on the wall and soon you'll be out of new boards. Just hedging my bet, I picked up two new 4100s from a small Network Support company who said they had never been used. They came in the original boxes with all the cables still in twisty ties and the wall mount box sealed, so I'm inclined to believe them. The only things missing were the startup manual... but I should be able to grab that on the Netgate site.

I have a question about registering these two devices with Netgate and would like to know who to contact to get them in my name on the records. I don't expect any warranty but would like to know I don't have to waste time getting support should that be a need when I power these things up.

I've had a discussion with Stephen W about adding storage so I'll dig that up so I get them upgraded from BASE.

Is there any way of knowing for sure these are really NEW or just well taken care of and wiped clean?

      Thanks,
      Rick

@Ramosel If you open a TAC ticket you can provide the serial number and/or NDI as I recall. I don't think there's any registration process. We don't register ones we sell, separately.

https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/netgate-4100/m-2-nvme-installation.html. I don't recall ever seeing a printed manual? Usually there are some stickers and ad/info like that.

re: wiped...probably not but it's safest to reinstall and then you skip upgrading a few versions also. Maybe check eMMC life. Though certain settings will save a whole lot of writes...I suppose 0x01 is not meaningful and 0x02 or higher means it's been used.

You can probably just import your config file, but if you have trouble TAC will convert config files to their models for free.

To upgrade, select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings. When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, CPU, and/or disk speed.
Only install packages for your version of pfSense.
