      in /usr/local/etc/pfSense/pkg/repos/pfSense-repo-0001.conf we have:

      pfSense-core: {
          url: "pkg+https://pfsense-plus-pkg.netgate.com/pfSense_plus-v25_11_1_amd64-core",
          mirror_type: "srv",
          signature_type: "fingerprints",
          fingerprints: "/usr/local/share/pfSense/keys/pkg",
          enabled: yes
      }

      pfSense: {
          url: "pkg+https://pfsense-plus-pkg.netgate.com/pfSense_plus-v25_11_1_amd64-pfSense_plus_v25_11_1",
          mirror_type: "srv",
          signature_type: "fingerprints",
          fingerprints: "/usr/local/share/pfSense/keys/pkg",
          enabled: yes
      }

      however, I cannot ping that server:

      ping pfsense-plus-pkg.netgate.com
      ping: cannot resolve pfsense-plus-pkg.netgate.com: Address family for hostname not supported

      What is the correct repo? I'm on pfsense+

        @sane_pirate see https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/upgrades.html#packages-netgate-com-has-no-a-aaaa-record

        To upgrade, select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings. When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, CPU, and/or disk speed.
        Only install packages for your version of pfSense.

          @sane_pirate the repo is correct + what @SteveITS mentioned.

          What is the error message you get when you try to upgrade? And are you trying to upgrade from the GUI or the console? Is your pfSense+ license valid?

            I get this same error if I try to update via gui, console menu option, or pkg-static -d update from the clie when sshed in.

            As far as pfsense+ this is netgate hardware, Netgate 4100.

              @sane_pirate Is Diagnostics > DNS Lookup working?

              Did you try https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/upgrades.html#repository-metadata-version-errors ?

              Or try changing update branches, and back again.

              To upgrade, select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings. When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, CPU, and/or disk speed.

                  If you see the 'another process is running' message that is almost always what's happening. So wait for it to time out or reboot and try again with the other branch.

                    I did reboot and tried to update to latest branch and got the same error.

                      Still seeing the same at the CLI if you try to upgrade from there to 26.03 directly?

                        No, at the CLI I get a repeat of this:

                        >> Updating repositories metadata...
                        Updating pfSense-core repository catalogue...

                        pkg-static: An error occurred while fetching package: No error
                        repository pfSense-core has no meta file, using default settings
                         ...

                          Hmm, that's when running: pkg-static -d update ?

                              Hmm, it has general connectivity?

                              Can it ping ews.netgate.com for example?

                              Does pfSense-repoc -ND return successfully?
