What is repoc (… in an update to Version 20260512.201828)?
-
I got this email from my Netgate 1100:
09:00:15 Some packages are part of the base system and will not show up in Package Manager. If any such updates are listed below, run `pkg upgrade` from the shell to install them: pfSense-repoc: 20260508.234816 -> 20260512.201828 [pfSense]I have four questions:
- What is pfSense-repoc?
- Why does it not get updated through System → Update or System → Package Manager?
- How important is this update?
- Will the 1100 have to be rebooted to make it effective?
-
pfSense-repoc is the client for the dynamic repo system. It pulls the repo data and client certs from our servers.
It gets updated at a firmware upgrade. It's not a pfSense package (like Snort or pfBlocker) which would be listed in the package manager. It's a system package.
The update is not required for system operation. It added support for additional backend options.
A reboot is not required to start using it.

I saw this also but don't know what it is.
