What is strongswan?

I got notifications from the systems I manage with the following content:

09:00:13 Some packages are part of the base system and will not show up in Package Manager. If any such updates are listed below, run `pkg upgrade` from the shell to install them:

pfSense-repoc: 20260512.201828 -> 20260519.042442 [pfSense]
strongswan: 6.0.3_1 -> 6.0.6 [pfSense]

What is strongswan? Will it require a reboot, after updating it to the latest version, to make it effective?

@DominikHoffmann that is ipsec vpn stuff - are you using ipsec vpn? if so the update might reset your vpn connection(s).. But no a reboot should not be required.
