Netgate pfSense Plus has detected a crash report or programming bug
-
Just started happening following upgrade to 26.03
Dump attached.
textdump.tar(1).0 -
@rloeb Upgrade to 26.03.01, it fixes that panic.
-
@kprovost Thank you!
-
@kprovost Unclear how to upgrade. System says it's on latest release and doesn't offer upgrade. What am I missing? Brain doesn't work as well as it used to!
-
@rloeb Follow the documentation at https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/install/upgrade-guide.html and https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/upgrades.html
-
@kprovost Update to 26.03.01 and still getting the error message.
textdump.tar(2).0 -
That still shows the kernel as 26.03:
FreeBSD 16.0-CURRENT #36 plus-RELENG_26_03-n256531-4923e82e59d1: Fri Mar 20 18:22:49 UTC 2026 root@pfsense-build-release-amd64-1.eng.atx.netgate.com:/var/jenkins/workspace/pfSense-Plus-snapshots-26_03-main/obj/amd64/TVcqnR7U/var/jenkins/workspace/pfSense-Plus-snapshots-26_03-main/sources/FreeBSD-src-plus-RELENG_26_03/amd64.amd64/sys/pfSense amd64Did it show 26.03.1 as available? Did it seem to upograde OK?

Hmm, did it reboot after the upgrade? Does the uptime look correct?
-
@stephenw10 Yes, rebooted after upgrade, and I just rebooted it again. Shows version 25.03.1 and still shows the error message.

That looks to be an older crash dump. Has it actually crashed again with 26.03.01?
-
Right. If you clear the alert and crash dump does it come back after rebooting?
-
@stephenw10 I believe I need to delete the crash dump to avoid the notification, but I don't know how to do that...
-
When you open the crash report there is a button to remove and clear it.
-
@stephenw10 THANK YOU!!! I'm remote from the site and have been depending upon the eyes of a wannabe tech who is onsite. I believe that he needs reading lessons! Ouch.
-
Ha, well that doesn't help.
