Defer Automatic Reboot: latest boot environment only selected temporarly

My System / Update / Update Settings are set to defer automatic reboot and the Dashboard check is disabled.

Today I updated to the latest 26.07.r.20260801.1756 and after upgrade I rebooted manually. It correctly booted into the new boot environment. It shows that the default boot environment is still the previous one. So after another reboot it will boot into the previous boot environment.

Is that the expected behaviour? I thought that it used to be that the automatic boot verification (message at the top of the dashboard) would select the latest environment when it succeeds. But I can't see any boot verification running and can't see if it failed or not.

Seeing the same.

I rebooted short time after the upgrade was ready to. That upgrade (not the reboot after) took really long, probably because of the netgate servers.

Edit: Status UPnP IGD & PCP still doesn't show the internal IP but seems to work, not tested though.

Edit2: The nexus Dashboard of my pfSense still gets bombarded with notifications so I am unable to test this any further and will disable nexus, again. Nice though, that it is supporting drag and drop for rules now.

Hmm, so as though 'Manual Boot Verification was also set? Does it show the verification button?

Not in my case, no. Only defer automatic reboot. It does not show the verification button or any message that verification is going on.

It's not a new thing of the latest RC, I saw the same at least with the latest beta.

Addition: Today I upgrade to 26.7 Release and it now behaved as expected. After successfully upgrading, it booted into its snapshot called 'default' and that snapshot is set for the next boot.

Assume it was a fluke, or someone fixed it.
