Reinstall pfSense CE 2.9 while preserving the configuration - Need pfSense CE 209 installer ISO

I was called into a firewall issue today. The firewall is working but I am unable to log into the GUI because of PHP errors. After collecting the details I searched the forums and finally plugged them into AI to get a recommendation to fix the issue.
Here is the environment summary -
Base: On hardware
Kernel: FreeBSD 16 / pfSense 2.9
Userland prompt: 2.8.1
pfSense package: 2.8.1
pfSense-repo: 2.8.1
PHP: 8.3.19
Composer dependencies: Require PHP ≥8.4
Boot environment rollback: Not availableThe repair recommendation from AI is to reinstall pfSense CE 2.9 while preserving the configuration. But to do so I need the pfSense CE 2.9 installer ISO which I cannot locate.
I do have good configuration backups but the hardware is no physically close to me. Can anyone help in telling me where I can find the installer?

@jhozeska 2.9 is a beta that was just announced yesterday. You shouldn't be using it for anything important unless you're willing to deal with sharp edges.
The last direct ISO you could grab was 2.7.2. You could use that to get yourself back to 2.8.1. Otherwise, your official option is to buy the Netgate Installer for $0 from the store and use it to download/install 2.8.1.

Agreed. I'm not even sure how the kernel was upgrades as everything else is (was) running smooth with 2.8.1.
The AI recommendation of booting to CE 2.9 seems to be a bust. Is there any other safe way to revert the kernel?

There were initially problems with the CE 2.9.0 upgrade due to a problem in
pkgbetween the version on CE 2.8.1 and 2.9.0, so the upgrade repository was pulled for a bit while we fixed it, but it was all back up yesterday.Looks like yours hit the situation where it upgraded the kernel but failed to upgrade the rest of the system. If you tell it to upgrade again it should complete the upgrade OK as the problem was with the newer
pkgrunning on the older kernel, but now you're on a 2.9.0 kernel,pkgshould have no problems. Both have been patched now, but it shouldn't be hard to fix the situation yours is in without wiping it.If you want to reinstall, use the Netgate Installer from the store. It can reinstall CE 2.9.0 directly, as well as 2.8.1 if you prefer to stay on the previous version.

Yes, that should be safe. Just tell it to upgrade again and it should end up fully on the latest 2.9.0 beta build.

@jimp I unfortunately did not have the time to track down what was broken when I updated from 2.8.1 to 2.9 this morning (August 8th, a day after your post) but it looked like my Intel based NICs were no longer working properly after the update.
I will try updating again when I am home alone for a few days to see if it was just a bad luck or a more important problem like a NIC card I have that is no longer supported or something like that.

@jimp I attempted the upgrade through the GUI but it did not complete. It looks to be working but after it reboots but comes back to the same errors I have before. The GUI isn't fully working because the kernel is different than the version PHP is expecting. I also tested by pushing the upgrade from the CLI but get the same results. Here is output from an upgrade check.

Ah, yes you should be able to agree to accept the version mismatch to see the list but not actually upgrade them. We just want to see what packages it thinks are not up to date.
