Why such frequent pfSense-repoc updates?

For the last two months I have been getting two notification about updates to pfSense-repoc. I had not seen that before. Is this related to the upcoming updates to the UI?

Because the notifications generate emails daily, until I install the updates through pkg upgrade, I take care of it. I manage six systems, but the time commitment adds up.

With these not containing code, updating them should not get a high priority, should it?

You are only seeing those emails because you've installed a script specifically to do so. Most users never see that and repoc just gets updated the next time it's called.
But you're seeing frequent updates as we prepare for 26.07. Most of them are bug fixes for the upgrade as they have been discovered.

You've installed the 'show all the packages for which an update is available' script, with a cron task setting.
Result : now you see what is avaible, as normally you wouldn't see these.
Well, you got what you asked for ^^

AFAIK : A visit to the pfSense GUI would auto install this "pfSense-repoc" as it is the pointer-file to "where and what are the updates".
I thought myself, in the past, that pfSense wouldn't auto install any packges until the 'admin' said : "Ok, go ahead", but this "pfSense-repoc" is the exception here.
After all, an admin can't see any available updates if the pfSense update GUI manager can't look into the correct repository. This repository entry can get modified = updated.

Check for yourself : you saw the mail that a new package was avaible, like "pfSense-repoc".
Visit pfSense, the GUI, and visit System > Package Manager > Installed Packages
Now, on the console (or SSH) call your update script manually. It won't show the "pfSense-repoc" candidate anymore.
