Netgate 6100, upgrade from 21.05.1 to latest version

Hi,

What is the upgrade path I should take to upgrade a Netgate 6100 from 21.05.1 to the latest version ?

Should I do 21 -> 22 -> 23 -> 24 -> 25 -> 26 ?

Or should I trust the offered update path which starts by 21 -> 23 ?

With that old of a version, I wouldn't trust that the "normal" GUI upgrade would succeed all the way up to 26.07.

If you have physical access to the 6100, I'd take a backup of the config, and do a clean install of 26.07 with the Netgate Installer and then restore (or put it on the USB ahead of time and use the automatic restore feature).

You'll end up with a cleaner system.

@jhr with @luckman212 I would prob do clean install with a system that old.. I know there was a some changes along the way with zfs partitions.

If it not a too complex setup - just completely do scratch.

Clean install with 26 would make sure your zfs and current partitions, etc.

@jhr There's no publicly downloadable image for 26.07. You would need to use the Netgate Installer (which requires that the firewall you're installing to have internet access.)
