Background

In 2022, Netgate offered a special promotion that gave new users a full year of pfSense Plus software along with technical assistance - TAC Lite (zero-to-ping) - at no charge. This was intended as a one-year introductory offer, after which a pfSense Plus subscription would continue at the standard rate of $129/year.

What Happened

To ensure promotional users had every opportunity to experience the full value of pfSense Plus, Netgate extended complimentary access to pfSense Plus well beyond the original one-year promotional period. We’re genuinely happy to have provided a no-risk opportunity to experience everything pfSense Plus has to offer.

As Netgate works to update pfSense to provide a more modern architecture and better network control features, the time has come to deprecate the NDI-based licensing system. The licensing and entitlement process is changing in part to support multi-instance management through the Nexus controller with zero trust networking principles. The entitlement for the special free (extended!) promotion has come to an end, and those entitlements have now been corrected to reflect their original expiration date. We're grateful for your continued use of pfSense Plus, and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

If your entitlement has expired, don't worry. You can renew your pfSense Plus subscription with 24/7/365 TAC Lite technical assistance directly from our website, and continue using pfSense Plus just as you have been.
