2.8.1 to Latest Plus with new Features?

Hi All,

We need to upgrade a production FW from 2.8.1 to the latest version of PLUS with its new features.

The firewall is relatively simple but large config and very pivotal.

Is there an upgrade path or just go for it?

Fast reply : afaik, you can't do that from the GUI or even command line. If some one knows, and I'm wrong, I would be happy to be corrected.

The way it works, the way that will work : You've installed pfSense already ones, so you know it isn't a big deal.
Here we go :
Re download the installer.
Burn the file to a USB drive.
Boot from the drive, and this time, don't select "CE" but "Plus".
With some changes ** your current "CE" config will be found during the install , and used to create the Plus install. If not, as you've made a backup of your CE config, you can use that.
Ones plus is installed, you need to enter a license code. You can get that from the Netgate Shop.

There's a place where all is is explained way better as what I do here, and it's done by the guys who created pfSense : pfSense Documentation. If you trust pfSense, you can (have to ?) trust the manual. All the answers are there, even for the questions you don't yet.

If have a running production firewall on 2.8.1.

I can download the new software and upgrade to plus -

I've done this a few times without issues.

I am asking of the config on 2.8.1 is OK with the new features in the same method,.

Yes the config from 2.8.1 will import into 26.07 no problem.

We should be able to make it available as an upgrade directly soon. We are testing that now.

OK - this is the info I needed - thanks mate - we'll upgrade the standby fs import the config into that.

Then we can make the prod the standby and guinea pig your direct update when / if available -
