        Update from the OP: I removed the original post above — this package (and all my other pfSense packages) now ships through the unified, signed community repository instead of per-package repos, managed from a one-page GUI under System → Community Packages. The AdGuard Home manager is pfSense-pkg-adguardhome there.

        Install instructions and the full announcement: A community pkg repo for 2.8.x "outside" packages (https://forum.netgate.com/topic/201354/a-community-pkg-repo-for-2.8-x-outside-packages-one-page-manager-gui) — TL;DR: add the community repo conf + pubkey, then pkg install -y -r community pfSense-pkg-adguardhome.
