pfSense webGUI header wraps to two lines when "Hostname in Menu" is enabled
-
Hi,
I noticed a layout issue in the pfSense webGUI when enabling the Hostname in Menu option under:
System → General Setup → Hostname in Menu
When either "Hostname only" or "FQDN" is selected, the hostname is displayed in the top navigation bar.
With longer hostnames/FQDNs, the header does not adapt well to the available browser width. On a PC browser, the hostname can cause the navigation/header area to wrap onto a second line, as shown in the attached screenshot.
For example, a hostname such as:
fwraizsupermercadosdaldanhamarinho
can cause the header to break when the browser window is not wide enough.

Suggestion:
Make the top navigation/header responsive to the available browser width. Ideally, the hostname should remain on a single line and the available space should be handled dynamically, for example by:allowing the hostname area to shrink responsively;
using ellipsis (...) when the hostname/FQDN is too long;
adjusting the spacing of the navigation items according to the browser width;
or otherwise preventing the header from breaking into multiple lines.The goal would be to keep the pfSense navigation bar on a single line while still displaying the hostname whenever possible.
This is particularly noticeable with FQDN, where longer hostnames can easily exceed the available space.
Thanks!

Take your phone and access the GUI. A very long host name will make things look ugly.
Keeping the FQDN host name on one line without 'breaking' (on the dot ?) by shrinking the font size would produce a unreadable mini blur.Afaik, keep the host name short, is the 'best' solution.
