2 (or more) pfsense installations on a network
-
Following up to my post here: (http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,21197.0.html) , I cannot find a computer in our possession (older, refurbished) or for purchase in the local market that has the capability to host 5 NICsl they're all missing one PCI slot. I have about 6 or 7 older PCs that I can utilize as another pfsense installation.
The question is how? Should I split the LAN subnets and the Wireless network to this new router and have its "WAN connection" come straight from the FW installation? Or is this more of what pfsense clustering should do?
If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

I would get a mainboard with PCIe, a Gbit PCIe NIC and a VLAN capable switch.
Create as many VLANs on the Gbit NIC as you need (if you expect on all interfaces full speed i would go up to ~8 VLANs/Gbit NIC).
Like this you can have as many virtual NICs on the switch as you want. -
Having just come back from a very frustrating day at work, this sounds like the best thing I heard today. Thanks man, I'll look into this.
