I only run a single pfsense instance at home. So naturally I wanted to ask if I need to have Nexus package installed?
Nexus advertises as a tool to manage multi-instance pfsense.
For home users with only one instance is it necessary?

Nexus is not only about multi-instance management. It also exposes a new pfSense Plus GUI when enabled. You may want to enable the new GUI and test it out. The new GUI exposes a few new features in pfSense Plus. Those new features are discussed in this thread: https://forum.netgate.com/topic/201361/netgate-releases-netgate-nexus-version-26.07_1.

@markster Somewhere/when in the past Netgate posted it’s required, even if you don’t use MIM.

          Also fyi:

I personally would not use nexus yet, it feels more alpha/beta at this stage.

To upgrade, select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings. When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, CPU, and/or disk speed.
Only install packages for your version of pfSense.

Yeah don't remove the pkg but you don't yet need to enable it. pfSense will run fine with it disabled.
