      i installed squid 2.7.8_1 on 1.2.3 PFSENSE.
when im enabling the transparent mode it works fine but when im unsetting the transparent and entering the settgins of the proxy in firefox it wont work.
i dont remember if it worked before or not.
my lan firewall rules are allow from any to any.

i will be more than happy to get c clue of what to do with it.
      my lan is on 192.168.10.0/24
      enabled on the ACL.
maybe i need to add an ip for the squid to listen on?

well, just once: im asking for help cause iv tried this….!!!
the service it self is working..
the last time i installed squid i made it work but i dont remember what i did.(i have other things to remeber in my life)
and .. i will ask again:
if i want the squid to be wide open for my LAN that sits on 192.168.10.0/24 and my 1 node i the network is the pfsense machine,
just like any other custom\manuly proxy in the world.
i set up in the firefox the 192.168.10.1 and on port 3128 using sock5.

do i need to setup any cutom settings for squid or just install?

          edit:
          solved!!!

i new it was somwthing with the removal\installation of SQUID!!!

in the first time i installed squid it worked... so..
i saved the configurations, reinstalled PFSENSE +format, restored configuration,
          installed squid.
and now i got a start while getting the "access denied"
rebooted the pfsense device and it works (thesquid  localnet settings was updated on boot).

          thanks!!

so now i have another problem.

i reinstalled the server and got squid to work but when i try to change any of the squid settings after clicking the "save" button ..
the configurationos of the squid is gettings back to the same as before.
also cant add exceptions to the cache list.

i will install it on vm and try from scratch just to catch the problem but it will take 2-3 weeks cause i have some things to do.
any idea will work for me.

Download a backup of your config, look for the squid options, and see if you have a "<config>" tag. If so, remove it, then restore that configuration. That happens sometimes, but I can't repeat it reliably enough to find the cause.</config>
