Drops at default queues
-
Hello!
I have trouble ajusting Traffic Shaper. I read many posts about Traffic Shaper at pfSense forum & wiki, but I can't arrive to well configure the queues for my case.
I want to put P2P connections to the lowest priority possible. So, I used only default, ACK and P2P queues.
I tried different parameters but I continue having drops in my default queues and I don't understand why. Is it perhaps my DSL has too much traffic?
Before configuring the bandwidth for my ADSL connection I used MRTG to see how really is working. I arrived to the conclusion we have only 1300/250 kbit/s.
We have about 100 computers going to the Internet and a web server accessed from the Internet.
At this moment I have Traffic Shaper like this:
Bandwidth: 1300 download / 250 upload
Child queues:
qwandef
Bandwidth: 79%
Priority: 3
HFSC parameters:

There are qopt4def, qopt4ack. Do you have other interfaces than LAN and WAN? pfSense may not work well in such a configuration.

Ooops. I've checked infos. The only unsupported case is multi-wan, multi-lan is supported. So my previous post was wrong. Sorry.

dusan,
I have 3 LAN and 3 WAN.
If I well understud a maillist discussion some weeks ago, Traffic Shaper works for any (and only for one) pair WAN & LAN.
So, is not multiWAN, and not multiLAN.
That's enough for my needs. I would be better if it was "multi" but …
Thanks,

we have only 1300/250 kbit/s.
We have about 100 computers going to the Internet and a web server accessed from the Internet.
1300 : 8 = 162 kbyte /sec
250 : 8 = 31,5 kbyte /sec162 / 100 pc's = 1,62kbyte /sec pro pc
31,5 /100 pc's = 0,315 kbyte /sec pro pcthis is slow real slow

you need more queu's
sins p2p can chanche its ports to non standerd p2p ports
so then the p2p trafic is comming in the default queues
and using up all youre upload speed
when this happends alt-q will drop packets to make room
