FTP/PPPoe on OPT1
-
Hi,
I have only one issue, but I think that we have two ways to solve it.
Some computers on my network should have their traffic only by a specific ISP, always. But FTP is the most used service on them, and pfSense only allow FTP traffic on WAN. I use a PPPoE connection on WAN and a DHCP on OPT1.
There are two ways to solve it, I just need to know which one is possible, and how to do it.
- Force FTP traffic to to through OPT1.
- Use PPPoE on OPT1.
Thanks in advance,
V. -
If you are using 1.2.3-release, PPPoE on OPT1 is not possible, thus the PPPoE should be set up on the WAN interface.
Regardless, you can force FTP traffic to go through either connection with a LAN firewall rule.

All ports I can forward to OPT1, except FTP. I saw on some pfSense doc telling that due to some weird stuff, FTP can traffic ONLY via WAN. :(

Didn't know about this. Sorry.

It only works only on the WAN if you use the FTP-helper.
If you disable the ftp-helper on all related ports, configure manually a passive port-range on the server and then forward 21 and <your_port_range>from WAN and OPT1 you can access it from both.
