Pfsense + ADSL Chip: Infineon PSB 50610 E

My question may seem going bad, but I was able to find the answer.
Pfsense would arrive he has to connect to ADSL2 + line card using a PCI modem (ADSL Chip: Infineon PSB 50610 E)?
The card model is "ADSL2 + PCI Card - Single Port ADSL Modem - Annex A".Thank you

I have try this card installed on Ubuntu Server and i have the problem to connect by PPPoA Encapsulation from my ISP with this chipset.

The the real question is does FreeBSD recognise the RTL8100CL chip?
It's not on the hardware compatibility list and I can't find any promising reports.Steve

I don't have that card so I don't know how much help I can be. However I do have a similar setup just using an external pppoa to pppoe bridged modem.
Which version of pfSense are you running? Does it detect correctly the rtl8100cl?
I assume you have the card setup in bridge mode.Steve

Can You Help Me?CentOS is linux, not FreeBSD. Just because something works in linux doesn't mean it is going to work under FreeBSD. Please confirm that this device is supported by FreeBSD first.

I dont see FreeBSD listed, also the fact that I cant find it on the supported hardware page doesnt help, and like submicron said, pfSense is NOT Linux, it is FreeBSD.

The beauty of this card, and others like it, is that it presents itself to the OS as a NIC (an RTL8100CL) and hence doesn't require drivers for all the adsl stuff. Effectively its a consumer grade router on a pci card. It seems quite surprising, given the number of readily available NIC ics that are widely supported, that they would have chosen one that isn't supported by BSD.

Oddly, another user on the forums has reported that pfSense 1.2.1 does support the RTL8100C(L).

As to why they chose this chipset over the more commonly supported 8139 is a big question but I guess they expect most of the users to be using M$ since the modem portion needs to be configured (PPPOE/ PPPOA/ Bridge/ Router) from DOS for such cards.

The only card similar to this I've used had web and telnet access to configure it. It appears this does too:

Originally when I ordered the ADSL card I thought (wrongly) that it was the traverse/viking card, which I'd seen on other posts, but it isn't
However I have just got it configured and working with pfSense-2.0-RC1.
It works well with a UK ISP, with the card configured as 1483 Bridged LLC and PPPoE.So pfSense does support the Realtek RTL8100CL chipset.
(The card is configured via a web GUI - doesn;t seem to use a telnet configuration like the viking card). -

Can I ask which UK ISP you are using? If it is the same as mine and you have confirmed it works, then all the better.
