How to bridge interface to act as a switch?
-
Hi I installed RC2 just to test it out and try out the new IPSEC features (which work flawlessly with shrew client) however I was unable to bridge my OPT1 to the LAN subnet as I could with monowall and pfSense 1.2
After I enable the OPT1 interface and create a bridge between LAN and OPT1 there are no replies to DHCP requests on the OPT1 interface.
The router I am eventually hoping to upgrade is in a data center protecting two servers which reside within the same subnet, rather than use an external switch which would require I purchase an additional power outlet, I installed two NICS and bridge them with monowall so that the NICs act simply as a switch for local traffic.

You have always (even on 1.2.3) needed to actually allow the DHCP traffic on the bridged interface.
You need a rule that passes UDP traffic on OPT1 from 0.0.0.0 port 68 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 - and make sure your allow rule is from "LAN subnet" to any and not OPT1 subnet to any, because OPT1 is bridged and should be on an IP type of 'none', it has no subnet.

Thank you for the reply, I will test this asap.
