Port forward WAN Port -> WAN Port
-
Guys,
I'm running the current RC1 on an ALIX (embedded) board and what I want to do is to have one WAN port be mapped to a different WAN port.
The reason is that I currently have OpenVPN running on the standard 1143 port. But I want to access my home network via port 443 (since this isn't usually blocked). So I need some mapping of 443 (WAN) to 1194(WAN). In the NAT settings the destination IP needs to be filled, but my WAN is dynamically assigned. Is there some alias for the WAN IP that can be put in there?
Naturally I could change the OpenVPN port from 1194 to 443, but then I would have to change my HTTPS port for the webgui.
I want to try an keep everything "standard" and therefor I'm looking for a portmapping as a solution.
Anybody who can help me with this ?
Cheers
Alexander

You could run the OpenVPN instance on the LAN instead of the WAN and then forward the port from the WAN to your LAN.

Sometimes solutions are so simple. Never thought of running OpenVPN on the LAN interface, but everything works like a charm.
Thanks
