400.000 websites hosting scenario…..

I have been asked to come up with a plan for this….
The servers and IIS are taken care of, but they want to look into Pfsense.
What would you guys suggest if it should be done the "easiest" way. It would be a big task to manually put in all the header info into the reverse proxy.
Looking into wildcard deployments at the moment, but cannot find a solution to DNS routing of the wildcards into the right server based on ip header....
Any suggestions?

Maybe you can try pound? It works with a wildcard

Thx mate! Will have a look at it.
Do you know by any chance, that you can write a script to do the header information? and maybe write it in a .xml file and import it into the "package" or reverse proxy?

Slightly off topic, but Varnish is a superior reverse proxy, especially for a very high performance network. Not sure I'd combine the proxy and firewall functions on the same box.

Thx Sub! :)
