Bridging LAN2 to LAN1
-
Hi Everyone,
Using an Alix board here with 3 NIC ports on it. There is a LAN, WAN, and OPT1. I have LAN and WAN setup and works beautifully. But I want OPT1 which is now added as an interface to actually be providing my server with from the same DHCP port as LAN1.
I did set it as Bridge with LAN but it doesn't give me an IP.
Am I missing something? Is there something I have to do to get OPT1 bridged with LAN? or am I wrong about the concept of bridging overall?
Thanks,

Do you have firewall rules allowing DHCP on OPT1?
What version of pfSense? If using pfSense 2.0 snapshot build is DHCP enabled on LAN or the bridge?

Hello,
Why DHCP for Opt1? I thought OPT1 would take it's DHCP from LAN when I do the bridge on OPT1 interface.
Am I wrong with that?

I thought OPT1 would take it's DHCP from LAN when I do the bridge on OPT1 interface.
It will if firewall rules allow the initial DHCP request from OPT1. But that is a necessary condition, it may not be sufficient.
What version of pfSense are you using?
If you search the forums for keywords DHCP and bridge I expect you will find a number of posts discussing your issue including suitable firewall rules.
