Bandwidthd failing to install
-
Hi all,
I've been trying for quite some time now to get bandwidthd installed on my Pfsense
I'm running a hard disk installed setup version "1.2-RELEASE" on a hardware based machine
two packages are installed since 2 years or so which are "Lightsquid" and "squid"
when i select the package and run the install i get:"Installing bandwidthd and its dependencies.
Downloading package configuration file… done.
Saving updated package information... done.
Downloading bandwidthd and its dependencies... done.
Checking for successful package installation... failed!Installation aborted."
This has been the case for quite sometime, i barely change any configuration so i wonder if maybe it's not a problem from my machine?
I'm not a UNIX expert so any advice will be very much appreciated
Regards
OrenP.S the soul purpose of this is to try and be able to see how much bandwidth we are consuming per month - any other way to achieve this with pfsense you can advise I'd be happy to know.

RRD Summary will do what you want. Difference between the two is that RRD Summary is for all users, bandwidthd will break it down by IP address.

thanks for you answer, i never managed to make much sense with the RRD graphs but if i can't use anything else then i'll live with it :-)
but is the whole packages issue i saw in a few reports been solved now? maybe i need to update something on my system so it connects to the right servers?

there is also vnStat since you dont like rrd summary. RRD summary lets you sync it with you billing cycle in that it calculates it for you.
Not sure about the package issue status.

going to take a look at it,
many thanks for your kind advices!
