Multiple wireless cards
-
I can't find a screenshot of the wireless config page, and I can't seem to find the info on this site anywhere.
I would like to make a wireless AP with pfsense with 2 SSIDs, one private WPA, one public.
I was hoping I would be able to do this with 2 PCI wireless cards in an old machine running pfsense but I don't know if on the wireless page they will show up as 2 interfaces or if only the first is configurable.I just know m0n0wall won't show me the wireless page unless I have a wireless card in there so I didn't want to install pfsense until I knew it would do what I need.
Thank you!

pfSense is different here. You get wireless options at interfaces>optX for each interface, so yes, what you want to do is possible. You should of course use channels that are far away from each other to prevent interference. You also should place the antennas not directly next to each other if possible.

Awesome!
Now to go buy some cards and antenna.I've heard that within 6 feet of each other is bad. If I put the two antenna on the same channel but 6 feet away from each other would that be fine?
Thank you!

You shouldn't run different Accesspoints at the same channel (not even if they share the same SSID and Settings). Everything not at least 2 channels away is influencing each other and will cause impact on throughput though it will work.
