Persistent logs

In 2.0 RELEASE, is it true that the logs get zeroed out at boot time, even in an hdd-based installation? Is there a way to change this behavior without having to resort to remote syslogging? That is, I want to keep the logs local to the pfsense box and I want them to persist across boots (clogging is okay).
TIA,

I think there is no way to get around that problem, but developers might have ace in the sleeve

Best way is to use remote syslog to push them off to another system where they can be kept indefinitely.
There isn't a really good way to not clear them and also ensure that the log files are properly formatted at bootup (or there may be but nobody has had time to dig into that)

So it's not a trivial matter to just pick up where it left off? Dang.
