Dashboard (Updating in 10 seconds) BUT Never gets Updated
-
pfSense 2.0 RELEASE's Dashboard does not update. It shows "(Updating in 10 seconds)" BUT Never gets updated. I've found the link:
http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Dashboard_widgets_won%27t_update_%28Stuck_at_%22Updating_in_10_seconds%22%29
which tells of having only "ajax.js" exist in "/usr/local/www/javascript/index/"
It still does not help after rebooting and reinstalling. I"m running on an Alix.2D3 w/ no extra hardware or packages installed.
These are all default fresh installs written from "pfSense-2.0-RELEASE-512mb-i386-nanobsd.img" on freshly formatted and zeroed Sandisk 512MB CF card. Images were written to and then read back onto a file and then checksummed (crc32: 24f4ae83) with original to ensure integrity. Previous 1.2.3 did not have this issue.

What browser are you using? Have you tried multiple browsers?
-
Yes I've tried Firefox 7.0.1 & 8.0 and Internet Explorer 8.0
When I enter this command:
$ ls -al /usr/local/www/javascript/index/
total 11
drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Sep 13 14:32 .
drwxr-xr-x 17 root wheel 1024 Sep 13 14:32 ..
-rw-r–r-- 1 root wheel 3664 Sep 13 14:32 ajax.jsSo, it is not related to the other issue.

Yeah it should be working fine there then. Any errors in the system log or other issues?

Hi jimp,
I shouldn't have opened both Internet Explorer and Firefox at the same time… but anyhow... I found the cause: Adblock Plus for Firefox ??? ???
Apparently "/GetStat. (??)" is blocked...
Perhaps you can contact the author to white-list pfSense because it is a very popular Addon.
-
Not sure how they'd add a whitelist for pfSense, since the IP would be different every time someone changed it, and the url for getstats.php wouldn't be unique enough for them to trigger on.
-
Yeah, I see your point as every system would be unique. I just add two exception, one for the main page & another for the /index.php page to Adblock Plus and now everything is OK.
Thanks Jimp

ok. I added a note to that doc wiki page that it might be AdBlock causing it as well, in case someone else hits the same issue.
