Empty ntp and ppp logs
-
I have recently done a fresh install of pfSense 2.0.1. I have noticed my ntp log and ppp log are empty. I expected each to at least contain a startup message from the corresponding application. As shown below ntpd is running and I have an active ppp wan link.

i dont think ntp logging has worked since 1.2 days… ppp is loggin info for my 3g modem

I wonder if logging in mpd is different for serial ppp and pppoe.
Looking at examples of the ntpd report to the remote syslog server it seems the facility code in the message is ntpd[54294] (54294 is the pid of the pfSense ntpd). The syslog, conf man page doesn't say anything which would lead me to believe this facility code will match any entry in syslog.conf which appears to expect a facility code of ntpd

Same here for NTP for lonnnng time…
PPP has recently become very anemic...
