Simple multi wan set up
-
Hi Folks
From a single wan setup we intend to move to a dual wan set up and the brief set up is as follows:1. WAN1 : Gives us a static public IP
2. Opt 1 : Gives us a DHCP IPI want to set up a simple fail over /Load balance
Is there a simple step by step tutorial availableRegards

SYSTEM -> Rounting
Create a Group with WAN and OPT1, both Tier 1Select this Gatewaygroup as gateway in your firewall rules on LAN interface.
That's all.
Same Tier: Doing Loadbalancing if both are up and failover if one GW is down.

Hi
Didn't quite work out that way. Unable to figure out what mistake I have made.
I get a public ip in the range (DHCP)123.x.y.z on NIC1(rl0) and the second ISP gives a static
in the range 122.a.b.c. This is I add as OPT1. My LAN is taken as rl1. The ip start is 192.l.m.n
and has 30 machines to it. There is also a DNS server in the LAN.
The Pf sense box runs a DHCP server and doles out local dynamic IPs.Now what happens is that the moment I connect the second ISP we lose
connectivity with NET.
ShouId I post the logs? If so which logs will be useful?Regards

Have you checked your config against the HOWTO?

Yes I did that and my trouble is that at any point of time am able to get only 1 wan up and running.

Thank you Nachtfalke
Got it to work. Had overlooked the firewall rule to have the named gateway
