Monitor users upload/download in realtime (live)
-
is it possible via a package add on, (because i am not sure how to do it with the a default install) to monitor a captive portals user upload and download speed as they are logged in?
i realize that sentence just became toooo long lol.
my users authenticate via a external radius server, (radius manager 4). it doesnt have the ability to monitor upload/download …

You can use Traffic Graph on pfsense to view the realtime bandwith of an IP address.
So probably you can check which user got which MAC and the according IP to that MAC. Not the most elegant way I know. Perhaps there are other possibilities. -
traffic graph only shows interfaces.
i was thinking maybe a hack or a way for traffic graph to list "users" in addition?i wonder if ntop could be somehow told to use the captive portals users and organize them?
if you look under ntops page here; http://www.ntop.org/products/ntop/ under media it gives lots of monitoring options. i hope the many more option allows for captive portal …. not near my pfsense box so i cant fool with it.

On the right you can see the IPs. But you are right. Not very comfortable.

Ya that works but what I really want is a webpage like the captive portal how it shows logged in users and it would have speeds.
