Strange Problems Hotmail / MSN & Partial Load of Pages
-
Now I would think that the problem was with my original setup using Realtek cards on a GX110 PIII 512 MB system with pfSense 2.0, but I migrated the pfsense to a VM on an Ubuntu 10.10 Virtualbox Host that resides on a Dell PowerEdge 2900 and still had the same issue.
I have even tried lower versions in my case 1.2.3. My final solution was to try Endian FW to see if it was in fact pfSense only or if there was something else on my network. Nope! Worked without a hitch.
Here is whats happening:
Load up hotmail.com and the image verification doesn't load. Load up ebay and some of the pictures don't load. I know what your going to say set the MTU, ok I had set my MTU to 1470 that was the best result from using ping google.com -l 1470 -f and still had the same issues.
Its really bizarre because this is the default config meaning; I set the LAN/WAN interfaces loaded up the browser proceeded through the wizard and completed those steps.
Anyone seen this problem?

BUMP
Anyone? -
you may have to wait a little longer to bump your topic.. I know when something isn't working that the rush is constantly on, but you must also notice that there might be situation that no one have ever occurred in this problem.
As myself I haven't seen this behaviour ever.

Are you matching duplex? Are you running any extra packages (like squid)?
If you run it without setting the MTU to 1470, does it work correctly?
I am perusing ebay and hotmail without any issues. It is only those sites? Do you have multiple routers?I think there are a bit more details that we are going to need.

Thanks for the response:
Current network:
Time Warner Business Cable (CID/29) 5 Static IPS
(WAN) Router is SMC 8014

[Physical eth1]
[DELL PE2900] <–DELL PE 2900 Server (Ubuntu 10.10 Certified /VirtualBox Host)

[LAN NETWORK]
This is my network schema and pfSense was running as a VM with wan eth0 set to peth1 and lan eth1 set to peth0 normal operation for most with the exception of those sites mentioned and some alternate sites again with photos not loading. See I would say its an MTU issue but why would Endian work without issues? -
I am not sure why Endian would work and pfSense not. Have you left advanced setting alone and tried just standard MTUs? If you have installed any packages, remove them and restart. You want to get to where it is working and then make one change at a time so that you will know what is causing the problem.

Actually I have tried no MTU settings, MTU settings on the LAN / WAN and I have installed no packages. I am a firm believer in starting from scratch but out of the box in my scenario doesn't work.
