<![CDATA[Internet access from LAN]]>I will describe my current setup, goal and problem. Short and simple! 8)

Currently hardware is:
3 Servers: 2 Web/1 running full disk install of pfsense
1 ISP modem/router providing internet
1 Linksys home router for wireless
1 48-port cisco switch

Goal:
I would like to run all net traffic through pfsense and push to switch which will be configured with VLANS and run my servers and wireless router. So something like:

ISP>Pfsense>Switch>LAN(including wireless router for wireless AP net connection).

Problem: My ISP router is configured with DHCP but I want my LAN on pfsense to run dhcp so i think i have conflict there. (Im able to remove DHCP but then i lose all internet access to all devices!) Also I cannot gain access to the internet via my LAN on pfsense. Soon as i change anything with the LAN interface i lose access to the webGUI and i have to factory reset my PF box.

So my question is how can i get internet access into my LAN interface and get the LAN pushed into my switch.

This works as devices i connect to switch receive a IP from pfsense LAN. Now i am trying to get internet connection through lan to the switch.

Before applying the LAN IP change you have to change your DHCP server range. Then apply LAN changes, then release/renew on your client PC.

So if i understand correctly do you mean the server range on LAN or at the router?

On your setup you should have two network cards on your pfSense box, one for the WAN (Connection to your router) and the other for your LAN (Connection to your switch.

You should be able to leave DHCP turned on the router, by default pfSense has DHCP turned on for the LAN interface.

Make sure you use a different subnet for your router.

Example:-

Router  / pfSense WAN  192.168.0.0 /24
Switch /  pfSense LAN   192.168.1.0 /24

Also if you are going to use VLAN's I would recommend a good network card on your pfSense for the LAN connection like Intel that supports VLAN's

When i have the IP setup of:

PF WAN: 192.168.0.179
PF LAN: 192.168.0.5

I am able to connect to the webGUI but as soon as i change the LAN IP to anything other than the .0.x net i am unable to reach it. Even connecting directly from LAN to my sysem or to another router that is used just for pass through does not work. Anything other than .0.x and i lose access to my webGUI.
