Upgrading packages via Package Manager
-
Is there a "proper" way to upgrade packages installed via Package Manager? I can see occasionally on the installed packages list that an upgrade is available, but there doesn't seem to be a way to apply the upgrade other than re-installing the package by clicking on the PKG button next to it. I did this with Snort recently & had to set Snort back up completely. Seemed more like a re-install than an upgrade. Just wondering what the "proper" way is. I've searched & can't really find anything.

The pkg button is the proper way.
Snort is odd in that it has (or maybe it's been fixed since) an option, on by default, to clear out the snort settings when it is upgraded or reinstalled. Find the relevant checkbox to disable that behavior and it should retain your settings.
