    Ipfw: getsockopt(IP_FW_GET): Protocol not available …WHY???

      when I type ipfw show

      ipfw: getsockopt(IP_FW_GET): Protocol not available

      ???

        It means that ipfw isn't loaded. Meaning that you don't have CP or limiters enabled.

            pfSense uses pf for regular firewalling, nat, altq traffic shaping, and so on.

            ipfw is used for Captive Portal and limiters.
