I have a PfSense 2.01 box with working DansGaurdian filter on. I also have two branch office's with exactly the same box's and working DansGaurdian's on.
The branch offices are in an IpSec VPN held by the same PfSense DG box. When I add the remote IP's (VPN pingable IP's) of the other two firewalls in DansGaurdian -> XMLRPC Sync after a long time 'n get an error in the logs:

php: /pkg_edit.php: Beginning dansguardian XMLRPC sync to https://192.168.1.1:443.
php: /pkg_edit.php: A communications error occurred while attempting dansguardian XMLRPC sync with https://192.168.1.1:443.

Any idea on what to do?

Regards
Johan

Ah, sry. I didn´t read your error log correctly.

I think you have to add a static route, otherwise your box's can´t communicate through the IPSEC VPN - >

Further did you enter the correct username and password of the remote pfsense ?

My DansGaurdian only asks for the remote IP and password, which I thought is strange, so I assumed it must be the same as the admin password which is still the default.

As far as I know this is neccessary.
Further did you enter the correct username and password of the remote pfsense ?
The username is always "admin" and you must enter the password of this user admin. It does not work with other usernames.
