Using Nano pfSense in HD disk?
-
Hi guys,
I would like to ask about the embedded system version of NanoBSD pfSense, I know that it is suitable for storage that has limited write operation number such as a Comapct Flash.
My question is: Is it recommended using this pfSense version in a regular HDD storage? What is the advantage & disadvantage?
Your response would be appreciated. -

Disadvantages: restricted range of packages.
Is it the only disadvantage?
I can edit/re-brand nano version easly, that is why I am asking to use it even as a normal HDD verson.

Advantage to use flash or USB is because they are low powered. I've used both hdd and cf installation, just depends on the hardware and how noisey it is, and how much heat it generates, I'd say depends on the environment it's in.

Why would you ever WANT to use Nano on an HDD? Just put it on USB/CF instead. Much cheaper than an HDD…

yea exactly!
