NUT Package
-
During the installation of the NUT package the following error occurs:
Warning: chown(): Unable to find uid for uucp in /usr/local/pkg/nut.inc on line 355 Warning: chown(): Unable to find uid for uucp in /usr/local/pkg/nut.inc on line 70 Warning: chown(): Unable to find uid for uucp in /usr/local/pkg/nut.inc on line 70 Warning: chown(): Unable to find uid for uucp in /usr/local/pkg/nut.inc on line 70
Has anyone else seen this, or have suggestions on how to resolve.
Thanks,
jk
P.S.
1.2-RC2

This is the hard drive install of 1.2-RC2 correct? I haven't tested NUT since 1.0.1 when I wrote NUT. I will test it out this weekend and see if I can fix the issue.

I installed it with one of the 1.2 beta snapshots and it works fine there. I've not yet got around to upgrading to one of the RCs though.

I have installed the package on 1.2-RC2, seems to be working fine, except for the known issue with USB connected UPS data going stale.

I am having the same problem both on 1.2RC2 and the last stable version before it. After some tinkering I got a similar error. "upsmon[xxxx]: user uucp not found"
I looked at the passwd file and uucp isn't there. Perhaps another package installs this or it apprear when a serial port is present?I tried to replace uucp with root but I must have missed a spot or it set on a file generated on install.

Hmm. Mine was a full install from rc2 CD. Box has two serial ports. Finally got someone to find the serial cable and hook it up. NUT is now working perfectly. FWIW, box also has darkstat and phpsysinfo packages installed.

RayLooks like an easy fix. The uucp user existed on earlier builds. Heres the line in the /etc/passwd on my box.
uucp:*:66:66:UUCP pseudo-user:/var/spool/uucppublic:/usr/local/libexec/uucp/uucico
