i noticed today quite a bit of latency getting out to internet at times and noticed this frequent item in the pfsense system logs:

      "apinger: alarm canceled: WAN(x.x.xx.x) *** down ***"

      i'm running the following version:

      2.0.3p1-RELEASE (i386) built on Fri Jun 28 16:24:36 EDT 2013
      FreeBSD 8.1-RELEASE-p13

its a netgate atom embedded fw device that's been running ok for a almost a month since i purchased it.

is this log message an issue due to the netgate device or my cable modem/company side ?

      tia

Check the latency settings to be sure they are not too low.  But could really and actually be down.  Thats what the alarm is for.
