Help with my Queues
-
I am using the pfS box for traffic shaping only. I am a little foggy about how the queues work so if I could get verification as to how I believe they work it would be greatly appreciated.
LAN
-qInternet = 100000Mbps
qACK = 20%
qP2P = 5%
qVoIP = 96Kbps
qGames = 10%
qOthersHigh = 20%
qOthersLow = 6%What I believe is happening is that the qInternet is the default Queue and all the others are children. So anything that is not classified would go to the qInternet while anything that is classified will go to a child and be restricted by the %mbps I set.
Is this true?

Look at child settings closer. qInternet looks like the parent with a large max, effectively just a pass through. One of the child queue's should be default, look for checkbox. If done by the wizard the default child is named qDefault I believe. I won't ask why your shaping the Lan and not the Wan. Must not be your typical internet router arrangement.

I see, you are correct but I am seeing something kind of strange. I have 2 interfaces in the shaping; BRIDGE and LAN, what I have listed above is the LAN. None of the children are checked as default on the LAN but I do however see a child called qDefault that is set as default in the properties under the BRIDGE interface. This appears to be for upload because the root of qDefault's bandwidth is set to 25000Kbps which is the upload I entered in the wizard.
I ran the wizard and selected the BRIDGE as the interface. Other than that I have not added any queues.

I don't believe you can shape across a bridge. You likely need to remove the bridge and re-run the shaping wizard.

Thank you

You certainly can shape on a bridge. In fact, that's the only way I know to propely handle a multi-LAN scenario
EDIT: I mean, you can shape on a bridge composed by two LANs, towards a WAN. I don't know, but I don't think you can shape if you have LAN and WAN as a bridge
