<p dir="auto">Im having this problem which locks up my pfsense box and doesnt allow any traffic until reboot, the problem seems to happens at random and all that i see in the screen is:</p>
<p dir="auto">"bge0 phy read timed out" (see attached photo)</p>
<p dir="auto">I have an Intel PWLA8492MT PRO/1000 MT PCI/PCI-X Dual Port Server Adapter.</p>
<p dir="auto">The only post with this kind of error that i have found is http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,46301.msg242613/topicseen.html#msg242613</p>
<p dir="auto">The problem is that i dont know which is the correct solution.</p>
<p dir="auto">May you please help me.</p>

<p dir="auto">Go to the bios setup at boot, and disable it from there.  Then put a piece of tape over the port so you (or your successor) don't forget about it and try to use it … not that I know from experience or anything  ;)</p>

<p dir="auto">Since you're not using that NIC you could also try setting the speed manually and seeing if that removes the error.</p>

You can see there are no packets at all on bge0 where as em0 and em1 are seeing traffic.</p>
<p dir="auto">Is the bge NIC on-board? Can you disable it if you're not using it?</p>

<p dir="auto">i have 3 nic interfaces on the box, but there is one i am not using, it doesnt even a have a cable connected, could bg0 be that one that im not using?  im not that good in linux/freebsd.</p>
