Multiple Subnets on one physical LAN NIC question
-
Sorry if this question has been answered within the forum but I have not been able to find a clear answer.
I need to add multiple subnets to one physical LAN subnet with all having access to the Internet over one single WAN interface. We have run out of IP address and need to expand. I thought about changing to the 10.X.X.X to take advantage of a larger CIDR address space but a re-IP would not be easy.
Like to add the below subnets..
192.168.0.0/24
192.168.1.0/24
192.168.5.0/24I have tried adding virtual IPs address with a outbound NAT/Firewall rules but it does not seem to work.
Is there a how-to guide, post or few quick steps somebody could share? I am running version 2.1 Release.
Thanks..

VLANs should do the trick…

Yup vlans would be the solution here.. Do your switch(es) support vlans?
Or why not just renumber or even just change the mask from 192.168.1.0/23 would mean you could use 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.254, you would not have to renumber anything just change their masks. If they are dhcp this would auto happen.
Or if you changed mask to /21 you could use 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.7.254
Do you have a lot of static IPs? If your network is dhcp all that is required for a renumber is simple release and renew of the lease - or just simple reboot of everything.
