Installing. "fdc0 attach returned 6" locks up and stops installing.

I cant even finish installing…
it stops right at the beginning with some stupid floppy disk error I don't even have a fucking floppy. who uses a floppy anymore?I even tried giving it a floppy and it STILL wont go!!!

Please cough up more detail if you want any input

Older machines do not detect floppy drives. There is simply a bios setting that tells them if they're present and they trust that. Disable any floppy drives/controllers in the bios.
It could also be that that error is not what's stopping it booting it just happens to appear just before it halts. A floppy drive problem should not be fatal.

May take minutes to time out and continue … how long did you wait?

I was thinking that too but the computer appears to freeze. num lock and caps lock do not respond after the stooping with attach error.
alternatively the machine stops at IPsec if I do ahcpi mode disabled (2)im using a dell 2950 server with a dual core and 4gb ram, ive tried memtest and found everything to be good. I ran pf on this machine before. I did add 3 quad port nic cards (16 nics total, Broadcom dell 519 P/N) to the machine, ive tried to run it withouthe 3 nic's and I get the same errors.
im using x64 2.1 and I tried 386 2.1the machine doesn't even have a floppy attached and it is disabled in the bios. the floppy I used was usb, but I suppose I could attach a parallel floppy if I need to

Hmm, a hard lock like that is unusual if there is some hardware incompatibility. The most likely suspect, for me, in a machine like that would be the disk controller. If it has a hardware raid controller try disabling that.
the floppy I used was usb
What were you using the floppy drive for? What are you booting from now?

You have a DRAC 5 card installed? That presents a virtual floppy to the OS. Maybe enough emulation to tell the OS the floppy is there, but not enough to fully emulate the controller. Try disabling it in the DRAC setup, or pull the card as a last resort, esp if you don't plan on using it.
USB floppy would be the same way I think, not responding to register level I/O to the floppy controller.

I'm having the same exact issue with the same type of hardware : Poweredge 2950. Did you ever manage to get it working?
Thanks,
