Guide me. please

hi! I'm new in pfSense.. I've read and heard a lot about how good this product is.. so I'm trying it now…
I want my pfSense to be a cache server (we use untangle as router/firewall).. yes for now, I just want it to be a cache server...
1. What should I install? SQUID? or LUSCA cache?
-squid is in package list already
-to have lusca cache I need to execute command.. and I read that its not recommended... "broken package" "security risk"2. if LUSCA cache is better than SQUID, or both should be installed for better output, where and how can I install Lusca Cache? please guide me… I already google it, but like I said they dont recommend it (so I ask here) and it doesnt work and give me this
""""Warning: dir(/usr/pbi/squid-amd64/etc/squid/errors/): failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /etc/inc/pfsense-utils.inc on line 417 Fatal error: Call to a member function read() on a non-object in /etc/inc/pfsense-utils.inc on line 418"""""
3. How will I know if its working? if its caching? where should I check it?
4. Do i need to configure the proxy settings in my browser for it to work?
5. I have Pentium4 box and a DualCore, I can put 2 NIC IntelPro 100/100 in both… is there significant difference in my pfsense performance if Ill use a higher processor? should the net speed will be faster if I use i3 rather than pentium4?
Thats all for now. Thank you

3. How will I know if its working? if its caching? where should I check it?
I try the
tail -f /var/squid/logs/access.log
the result is.. I just see TCP_MISS/200 (means its not doing the job? caching)
then I check
cat /var/squid/logs/access.log | grep TCP_HIT
the result is… I got some TCP_HIT/200
cache log =
0 object expired
0
0
0
took 0.3 sec (1167.5 objcts/sec)-validated 335 entries
store_swap_size=842K
released 0 objectsis my pfSense CACHING??
I build this pfSense box for this purpose.. I want to make sure/confirm if its working..
