Kernel arp issue knocking out connectivity
-
Hi,
I wonder if anyone has any suggestions, we have, in the last few days, upgraded from 2.0.2 to 2.1 and from approximately 6:45 this morning until 2:45 this afternoon, the logs in the primary firewall have filled with this message every few seconds also we experienced intermittent connectivity failures to/from the LAN.
The really strange thing is that this message makes it seem as though the firewall is complaining that it is using its own IP address. That mac address is the mac for the bce0 interface
kernel: arp: 00:26:55:1e:a8:b4 is using my IP address 10.0.0.2 on bce0!
Has anyone seen anything like this before, I can't find any trace of anything else on our network attempting to use that IP or that mac address and this all happened when there was no-one in the office or connected remotely!
Any suggestions would be gratefully received!
Many Thanks
Joe

If that really is the MAC of the firewall, then look for a layer 2 loop. Something is causing the packets to come back into pfSense on that interface after it sends them out.
