I've been trying to figure out how to configure WPAD with squid and its not working at all. I've tried according to this guide but it didn't work. Currently our pfsense just acts as a gateway but DNS and DHCP is handled by our windows domain controller. Having said that, all our servers including pfsense are VM's running thorugh ESXi…

How can I achieve fixing this? I'm sorry, I'm lost and please do ask if any further information required

You need to configure both DNS and DHCP, plus actually make the wpad entry resolve via DNS, since it is blocked by default on Windows DNS servers.

Thank you for your help! I've added a CNAME to reflect the WPAD in pfsense and also configured that address into DHCP. It started working like a charm.
