AP USB Dongle Tenda W311U+ limitation?
-
I have 2 IP cameras connected to it (using zoneminder) - both transferring at 3mbps.
When I go to the Status of WLAN traffic, the max throughput I see is 6mbps.
When I connect a 3rd client to the AP (My android phone) to view the cctv footage, its so slow that I don't think the USB dongle can handle it anymore.
It is fine though when viewed on LAN.Is this a limitation of the dongle? Or is there a workaround?
Some things I've solved so far:
Problem -> pfSense crashes when wireless AP gets his 3rd client.
Solution -> interface -> wlan settings -> enable intra bss support.
*Probably only applicable to this USB dongle. -
I'd rather use RFC 1149 than USB WiFi dongle…

Am I better off buying a pci x1 wireless card with multiple antennas?

OR I think it would be better to use my old Tenda Wireless G 54mbit router. Just buy a pcie gbe network card bridge bridge etc. Right?
I think I'm answering my own questions lol. -
Both are whole LOT better alternatives, compared to the USB dongles junk. :D

Ah, good old IPoAC. You might want to read though RFC 2549 though. IPoAC isn't terribly reliable in its standard form so you may want to consider an upgrade. If you're a frequent user you might be able to get your carrier to upgrade you for free. ;D
